I recently completed a wired home network project. This was the first time I have ever run networking cable and I found this cabling to be very easy to work with. Before I go into the review of the cabling, I'll discuss the various components used for the network:Router:D-Link DIR-655 Extreme-N Gigabit Wireless Router (Note: This router was pre-existing; not purchased for this project.)Switch: TRENDnet 8-Port Unmanaged Gigabit GREENnet Standard Switch (8 x 10/100/1000Mbps)Cabling: Cable Matters 1000ft Bulk Cat6 Cable UTP Solid In-Wall Rated (CM) 550MHz 23AWG in Yellow; 2 Ft (2ft) Cat6 Ethernet Network Patch Cable Blue RJ45 m/m (10 PACK)Wallplates: Leviton 41080-4WP QuickPort Wallplate, Single Gang, 4-Port, White; ...Read more ›

4 out of 5 stars High quality for the lowest price

This has the internal cross-web divider. Strips easy. Solid copper, not the cheap aluminum clad copper. I did a pretty exhaustive search, and I think this was the best deal for high quality CAT6. Still...probably twice as expensive as CAT5.

Ran around 500 ft of this cable over the weekend, no issues and appears to be a high quality cable. Most of my runs were 75 ft+ so having an in wall rated cable with solid conductors was important. Not sure I'll even need the capability of the Cat6 spec but why not future proof a big install - the time it takes to rerun 1000 ft of cable far exceeds the price difference from cat5e to cat6.Pulled though some tough spots and the jacket did not get any nicks or damage. Cable did tend to kink up when pulling though joists, but I don't think any other cat6 cable would be better. Spool box was great, cable came out flawlessly with no issues. Delivery through Amazon was flawless as usual. Overall a good purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Correct handling is essential with this cable

It's important, if you're buying this cable, to be aware of what you're working with. This is heavy-gauge Cat6+ cable, and that has a number of important implications.First of all, it has a cross-shaped plastic separator that runs the entire length of the cable to keep the four wire pairs in the correct orientation and separation. This is part of the design, but it means that you almost certainly will not be able to strip the outer jacket using a crimping tool designed for Cat5/5e cable, without cutting at least one of the conductors in the process. If you don't have a cutter/stripper designed specifically for Cat6/6+ cable, plan to carefully cut the outer jacket with a sharp knife and remove it by hand. Also, you'll of course have to cut the center spacer short before you can fan the wires. The good news is, once you've got the jacket trimmed and the conductors fanned properly for your choice of T568-A or B, the stiffness of the heavy-gauge conductors makes it simplicity itself to get the cable properly inserted into an RJ45 plug. It'll slip right on with very little difficulty. So, know what you're dealing with, be careful, and have fun.

This is extremely good wire. Very well made and performs flawlessly. Cannot beat it for the price. I will be pulling my whole house with it and would recommend it to anybody. Including fellow tradesmen.

5 out of 5 stars Great CAT6 cable!

I tried another (box store) brand of CAT6. Somehow it didn't feel like theirs was a CAT6. Turns out that it is really an inexpensive CAT6 (additional wire twist but no shielding). That brought me to doing a bit more research on CAT6 cable and what it should be like. Having now purchased the Cable Matters CAT6, I am impressed that this is a "much" more/better quality CAT6 for the price. Seems that one has to be willing to pay for the better quality than the inexpensive (box store) brands. The Cable Matters Riser Rated CAT6 is a great product. Very happy with it and not having to pay very high prices for some other CAT6 brands. The cable is easy to run and terminate. The cable does come with foot markings so that you can count feet remaining in the box. The cable feeds from the box easily without any problemsThere are so many different brands and qualities out there that it can become very confusing. Don't bother, i have already done the the homework, just start with this one.The cable is a little more thicker than cheaper brands. Has the central plastic divider to separate the 4pr wires keeping crosstalk to a minimum. Overall excellent cable...I wired my entire 2 level home, some locations having 3 or 4 duplicate runs, overall about 3600ftsq total. I have 30 feet left over out of the 1000' boxWould definitely buy this again!
