It is what it is and it is great at that.Amazon Customer
For those of us that have yet to get the bosses permission to run fiber between building this can be a lifesaver and a great solution. We have used this cable to run through and underground conduit and connect to separate buildings together for networking purposes. It is great for that purpose. Shielded and waterproof, you can bury this cable with confidence. How can I be sure?Well, I had to strip the stuff and put connectors on the ends, and let me tell you something. You will want to get a rotary tool with diamond tipped blades, your best set of crimpers (and a guy with gigantic forearms to crimp it), and possibly some napalm. Why you ask? Because you aren't going to cut and strip this stuff with your garden variety stripper. No sir. I think we ended up using a pair of heavy gauge wire snips, a hacksaw, and brute force to get the cable casing stripped back enough just to put a connector tip on the end. And even then we needed the strength of a bath-salts crazed mma fighter to get the crimps to hold.So in short. The cable is top notch. If you haven't worked with it before, get some proper tools for stripping it and get proper connector tips for the cable. Also, a great vendor with awesome customer service.
Very nice - more for the money than I thoughtdave
This cable had a very big external plastic cover and on first impressions I thought was probably cheaply made. The more I used it I noticed, it was better than I had thought. This is shielded cable with a foil shield, CAT6 solid copper but also had a grounding wire which I did not expect. Seems very durable, my one reason for not being a 5 is the outer shell could have been tighter and the external cable markings came off during the pull (so the length and cable identifying marks literally could be rubbed off with your hand). This made it very difficult to calculate cable lengths while running the cable. Would still buy again and recommend - have not had it installed for more than a day, am hoping to get many years of service out of this line, so I hope it holds up.
Great for outdoor useCoop
I was running wired Cat6 from the basement up to the top floor, and could not run it through the house; I needed something to run up the side. Other online electrical supply stores wanted ridiculous prices, so I found this and purchased it. The price was reasonable and it is outdoor rated, including direct burial and UV rated. I bought this and then sold the remainder to a co-worker who wanted to run wired Ethernet out to his "barn" (really a mancave), which he buried to run out there. Been using for a couple of years and no visible degradation due to UV so far. It is much thicker wire which was a little difficult to terminate, but in the end it worked as needed and the sturdiness leads me to believe it will last.
Great productMike Costlow
This is the standard wire we use for running up radio towers to our PTP wireless equipment. We have tried many brands, but they can't hold up to the rigors of being strapped to a 300' tower. This wire has worked flawlessly so far (knock on wood). The shielding is pretty thick so terminating ends can be a little difficult, but we have never used clamshell fittings, which I would expect would be ideal for this type of wire.
Very impressed...David R
The construction of this cable amazed me. It is rugged, flexible, and easy to work with, considering its thickness and durability. I was very impressed with its performance, both during the installation and the testing afterwards. I would definitely recommend this to both home users needing outdoor network access, and professional installers pulling cable through 50 year old conduit. A+
